Man lives on nothing but beer for Lent to raise money for hospitality sector
One man has made the decision to consume nothing but beer for Lent in a bid to raise money for the hospitality industry, which has taken a massive hit during the coronavirus pandemic.
Del Hall, who hails from Cincinnati, is undertaking the beer-only diet for Lent for the third time, after successfully completing the mammoth challenge in 2019 and 2020, per Cincinnati.com.
According to the publication, Hall lost more than 40 pounds during the 40-day long beer ‘diet’ back in 2019, and since going viral after first announcing the challenge two years ago, the army veteran has been using the now-famous feat to raise money.
Hall started this year’s challenge on Ash Wednesday and will continue to consume nothing but beer until Easter – a total of 46 days according to Cincinnati.com. He is raising money via GoFundMe, on a page named SgtDel’s Virtual Tip Jar, where he pledges to send the money to “Service Workers in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.”
“100% of all donations will go directly to the Staff of Bar & Restaurants that participate.” The pledge continues.
You can follow Del Hall’s journey for yourself via his Instagram page, @SgtDel, where he issues daily updates on his progress. If you wish to read more about his fundraising efforts, then you might like to take a look at the GoFundMe page for his mammoth feat, which can be found here.
Meanwhile, a beer was launched last month for parents who have been homeschooling their kids during the coronavirus lockdown.
