Henkell sparkling wine range gains vegan certification
German Sekt brand Henkell has announced that its portfolio has gained V-Label certification, while its Piccolo range has had a packaging refresh.
Brand owner Henkell Freixenet said it had applied for the V-Label certification in recognition of the “increasing popularity of vegan products”.
The European certification provides a registered symbol for labelling vegan and vegetarian products that is internationally recognised and helps to increase brand transparency.
Jan Rock, head of corporate communications at Henkell Freixenet, said: “Henkell sparkling wines were already vegan, but thanks to the V-Label certification, it will be much easier for consumers to identify.”
Henkell’s quarter bottle Piccolo range has also received a packaging refresh. The so-called piccolo bottle, which holds 20cl of wine, was invented for the Henkell brand in 1935.
The updated packaging now highlights the word ‘Piccolo’ on both the label and capsule. The Henkell Piccolo Trocken and Blanc de Blancs have already been released in the new design, while the Henkell Piccolo Rosé and Henkell Piccolo de-alcoholised will follow shortly.
