Ningxia to develop wine tourism industry

Ningxia, one of the major wine regions in China, is set to integrate tourism into the wine industry in order to raise the profile of the region.

As reported by Ningxia Daily, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is interested to promote the integration of in-depth travel with key industries such as wine and goji berry production.
Thanks to the desirable ecological environment and winery facilities construction, Chateau Yuanshi Winery, located at the foot of Helan Mountain, is one of the first wineries in Ningxia to develop a new model of wine and cultural tourism in recent years.
According to the winery, they are currently operating winery tours, park tours, wine tasting and other tourism projects. Last year, they received 200,000 tourists.
They regard the tourism imparts great potential to boost their sales as visitors tend to purchase the bottles after the experience. At the same time, they have set up an official WeChat account and web shop – in all their sales revenue achieved a double last year.
This year, the winery plans to further enrich their wine tourism programme, for example, to increase catering, accommodation and other supporting facilities, eventually they hope to extend the tourism industry chain, and invite more tourists to stay in the vineyard.
Ningxia region will focus on key industries such as wine, goji berry, beef cattle, and tan sheep, and hope to promote the industry with the integration of boutique tourism. In particular, there are plans in shaping wellness travel based on industries such as wine and goji berry.
