Alleged ice cream thief has to be rescued from side of NYC building
A suspected ice cream thief was found clinging to the ledge of a nearby building after a few tubs of Häagen-Dazs were taken from a CVS pharmacy in New York City.
A great many people might claim they would go to extreme lengths to secure a few pints of their favourite ice cream, though it seems likely that few of those people would envisage a scenario in which their favourite scoop would leave them clinging to the side of a building.

Though this might sound far-fetched, it’s precisely what happened to one particularly unlucky would-be ice cream thief in New York City, who was left stuck on a small ledge several stories up from ground level after allegedly attempting to flee from police.
Per NBC New York, NYPD officers were called to a CVS pharmacy on 1500 Lexington Avenue after someone dialled 911 to report an ice cream theft. When officers arrived, they are said to have engaged in a foot pursuit with a 30-year-old man who matched the description of the ice cream thief.

They pursued the man through a nearby courtyard, where he climbed over a fence – apparently unaware that it lead to a steep drop down to an alleyway below.
The man apparently tried to climb down to the alleyway, whereupon he got stuck on a small ledge. Officers called the Emergency Service Unit (ESU) who rescued the man from his plight.
He was subsequently taken into custody, and police officers allegedly found 10 cartons of Häagen-Dazs in his backpack. The man was later identified as Anthony Pastore from Staten Island. He has been charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
