Samsung develops wine-pouring robot
Tech firm Samsung has unveiled a new robot that can pour a glass of wine, put away groceries and hand you a drink.
Samsung made the announcement during a virtual press conference as part of the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Among the new gadgets it unveiled was the Bot Handy, a robotic butler of sorts which uses artificial intelligence to recognise and pick up objects of varying sizes, shapes and weights around the home.
The robot, which is in development and is not currently for sale, was shown pouring a glass of wine and handing Sebastian Seung, president and head of Samsung Research, a glass of water.
Bot Handy is capable of doing household chores such as tidying and sorting through dishes after a meal.
Seung said: “Bot Handy uses AI to understand objects, like a glass cup or ceramic plate, taking note of their shape and materials to work as your trusted partner. Bot Handy can move around and do things like set the table or put away groceries. It flips the script on what a robot in your home could look like.”
