Dutch hotel offering overnight stays in a wine barrel
A hotel in the Netherlands is offering guests the chance to sleep in giant wine barrels that have the capacity to hold between 15,000 to 23,000 litres of wine.
As reported by The Mirror, Hotel de Vrouwe van Stavoren, located in Stavoren, one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands, has eight wine barrel rooms available to book.
Unfortunately you won’t be able to actually bathe in wine, but it is still a unique experience on offer for post pandemic fun.
Prioritising comfort, the giant barrels have transformed into cosy bedrooms complete with double beds, ensuite bathrooms and for some, a small living room with a TV. Guests to the hotel are, of course, welcomed with a bottle of wine.
A small number of the ‘Wellness’ barrel rooms also boast a sauna and an indoor whirlpool tub for those in need of some self-care.
Prices start from £162 a night based on two people sharing the wine barrel experience.
Thought Brits will have to wait a while before they can hop on a plane. At the time of writing England, Scotland and Wales all have national lockdowns, which include a ban on international travel.
