Mulled wine hot tub coming to the UK

Nothing says Christmas like mulled wine and country house hotel Shrigley Hall in Cheshire is offering guests the chance to bathe in it at its mulled wine hot tub.

Throughout December the hotel will be offering a mulled wine spa experience, which includes a relaxing soak in a hot tub filled with 750 litres of mulled wine, along with a selection of spa treatments and a complimentary glass of mulled wine.

Set to a toasty 37 degrees, according to SpaSeekers, the wine is made from a blend of red wine, orange and spices including cinnamon and star anise. A soak in the antioxidant-rich mulled wine, which will be treated so it’s at a neutral pH, is said to release toxins and reduce inflammation.

“Tannins are anti-bacterial, helping to fight viruses while improving cardiac health and increasing blood flow. Combined with the anti-oxidising properties from the polyphenols in red grapes and citrus fruits, circulation is improved, leaving you glowing,” a SpaSeekers spokesperson said.

“It also contributes anti-bacterial, anti-oxidising, stress-reducing, skin-softening and anti-inflammatory properties,” they added.

The spa experience also includes a 45-minute Frankincense massage, and a body scrub made from a blend of brown sugar, cinnamon and orange that helps to bring blood flow back to the skin.

Prices start from £60 per person and the experience will soon be available to book through Shrigley Hall’s website.
