1961 Latour leads next Bonhams sale
A case of 1961 Château Latour will be one of the highlights of Bonhams’ next fine wine sale London on 26 November.
The auctioneer’s next sale includes fine wines from several private cellars including from the recently defunct Ritz Club.
The 1961 Château Latour, considered one of the estate’s greatest wines, has a pre-sale estimate of £30,000-£40,000.
Other rare wines from the sale include six bottles of 1966 Petrus (£6,000-£8,000), five bottles of Chapoutier 1961 Hermitage (£8,000-£9,000) and two dozen bottles of 1955 Graham’s (£2,200-£2,500 per dozen).
There are also various parcels of top Burgundy such as magnums of J-F Mugnier’s 2002 Musigny, 2005 Meursault ‘La Goutte d’Or’ from Domaine Arnaud Ente and 1999 Clos Vougeot from René Engel.
A German collector has consigned several lots of mature Riesling including six bottles of Egon Müller’s 1959 Scharzhofberger Feine Auslese.
From the cellars of The Ritz Club, one of London’s most glamorous gambling establishments until its closure this summer, come various bottles of rare wines and spirits such as 2007 Le Pin and a Jeroboam Rémy Martin Louis XIII Cognac.
Bonhams senior international director of fine wine, Richard Harvey MW, said: “Bonhams Christmas Wine sale is renowned for its breadth and variety and this year is no exception. We have a wide selection of top Bordeaux and Burgundy vintages from English and European collectors, with the added bonus of bottles from the cellar of the world-famous Ritz Club.”
