HK’s largest Burgundy-dedicated wine shop to open this month

Hong Kong wine retailer Etc Wine Shops is opening a new shop entirely dedicated to Burgundy in Central later this month.

With over 1,000 wines available and access to an inventory of 6,000 bottles, the shop claims it will offer Hong Kong’s largest retail selection of Burgundy wines as well as a selection of over 100 fine Champagnes, Bordeaux wines, rare whiskies and sake, when it opens on 28 September.

The comprehensive product range features affordable everyday wines from boutique producers, to limited production, biodynamic and rare labels from top estates such as Leflaive, Comtes Lafon, Dujac, Clos de Tart, Georges Roumier and Armand Rousseau.

On top of the retail space, there is a dedicated tasting area. The shop’s ‘Inner Cellar’ rewards programme will also offer special benefits for members to help increase their knowledge.

Burgundy etc aims to help customers better get to grips with the complexities of Burgundy by providing access to trained sommeliers who will introduce customers to each winery, reveal the history of individual Burgundy wines, as well as provide relevant information on the intricacies of terroir, viticulture and winemaking techniques. The shop will also host year-round events, educating patrons on the sophisticated art of wine tasting and food pairings.

“Since each of our shops focus on a specific wine region or theme, we can provide a totally immersive experience,” said Paulo Pong, founder of etc wine shops and the Altaya Group. “Whatever one’s budget, taste preference or level of wine knowledge, stepping into burgundy etc is guaranteed to be a personalised, approachable and fascinating window into some of the finest achievements in the wine-making world.”
