London brewery launches mobile pint pouring service

Hackney’s Forest Road Brewing has fashioned its own ‘pint mobile’, delivering freshly-poured glasses of draught beer to customers’ doors.

After the Covid-19 lockdown led to the closure of pubs and bars, breweries have had to take matters into their own hands.

Many are now offering delivery and ‘drive-thru’ services, using mini-kegs, beer boxes and re-usable plastic bottles.

East London-based brewery Forest Road, however, has taken things one step further, converting a Citroën Berlingo into a mobile bar pouring three of its beers. The van is capable of carrying 150 pints, as well as a couple of cases of canned and bottled Forest Road beer.

Delivering within a three-mile radius of E8, but looking to expand its coverage, the brewery is offering bookable slots for a chance to purchase its Posh lager (4.1% ABV), Work IPA (5.4% ABV) and Easy Pale Ale (3.8% ABV).

Owner Pete Brown commented: “We have all of these kegs that are still fresh and tasting great, so I thought if people can’t get to the kegs, let’s bring the kegs to them!”

During the coronavirus crisis, the five-year old brewery has turned its bar into an off-licence, supplying the local community. Like its fellow London brewer Camden Town, it has also created its own NHS-branded beer called Stay Home lager to raise money for frontline staff.
