Austria’s wine body conducts Covid-19 research
The Austrian Wine Marketing Board (AWMB) has conducted research into the situation in the main exports markets for the country’s wine.
The AWMB’s research gives an overview of the general situation, and explores whether there are any import restrictions on wine as well as measures imposed on the on-trade.
Austria itself went into lockdown on 16 March. Shops were allowed to reopen on 2 May, but must follow strict safety measures. The hospitality industry has been allowed to reopen today (15 May) while hotels will follow at the end of this month.
The research has been conducted in collaboration with Advantage Austria, part of the Austrian Economic Chamber.
It explores the situation in Europe in countries including Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Sweden, the UK, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Russia, as well as the US and Canada, China, Hong Kong and Japan.
The full report can be viewed here, and more information is available via www.advantageaustria.org/
It is hoped the research help Austrian wine producers to export their wine and plan for potential delays and obstacles.
