UGCB confirms primeurs week will go ahead
The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux has confirmed that, for the time being, the annual primeurs week will go ahead as scheduled at the end of the month.
Contrary to an unconfirmed report in a French publication that the four-day event would be called off, the UGCB has stated that there are no current plans to cancel or postpone the annual tasting.
In a statement sent out today (4 March), the president, Ronan Laborde, said: “For the time being, the UGCB confirms that this event will still take place, from 30 March to 2 April 2020.
“We remain extremely vigilant and are closely monitoring how the situation unfolds.
“Given the date and the format of en primeurs week, we can realistically hope that all required conditions will be in place to welcome our visitors in the safest possible way.”
Several big trade events, including ProWein and Vinitaly, have been called off recently as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak.
