Majestic Calais and Selfridges to close temporarily
UK wine retailer Majestic has shut its Calais wine winehouse following new measures introduced by the French government on Monday in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, while upmarket department store Selfridges has also closed temporarily.
In a statement on its website, CEO John Colley said the closure would remain for the forseeable future and that it would contact customers when it had further updates or a timeline for reopening.
He said staff would still be on hand to answer customer queries, and there was “a series of options” for customers who had already placed orders, including a refund, delayed collection or a credit note.
“Clearly this is an ever-changing situation, but we wanted to make sure we reached out and kept [customers] up to date on what actions we are taking,” he said, adding that “Putting the safety of everyone connected with Majestic first and foremost is our number one priority.”
He said the company was “preparing for many eventualities” and would continue to monitor the situation as it changed, assuring its customer s that it would take the necessary actions to continue to serve them.
