Kingsland opens new canning line
Kingsland Drinks has boosted its bottling facilities, with the opening of a new canning line at its Irlam plant.
The new canning line, which is part of a £1.2 million investment in the site, will be able to produce around 80 million cans a year – but the company says there is headroom to increase this if demand is there.
Managing director Ed Baker said the move tapped directly into the growing consumer appetite for more convenient drinks.
“We’re confident will continue to gain momentum in the years ahead. Our investment places us at the forefront of the canned wine segment with a new capability which further asserts our position as a destination drinks company offering a full category solution,” he said.
The addition is the latest in a line of projects, which has already seen the addition of a carbonation line, a new onsite winery, a new high-speed bottling lines, and spirit bottling and packaging facilities. The company also expanded its focus on npd by establishing a new laboratory and insights-driven product development over the last five years.
The company supplies many of the UK’s grocery sector, including Co-op, Majestic, Waitrose, Morrisons, Tesco and M&S.
