Jailed Huneeus Vintners head released early
By Rupert MillarAgustin Huneeus Jr, the former head of Huneeus Vintners in Napa Valley, has been released from jail two weeks early because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Huneeus pleaded guilty to and was jailed for his part in the college admissions scandal that hit the headlines in the US last year.
As well as a US$100,000 fine, he was also jailed for five months at the US District Court in Massachusetts last October after pleading guilty to paying $300,000 to fake his daughter’s SAT
results and have her admitted to the University of Southern California.

A US District judge approved Huneeus’s early release on 17 March apparently citing the wider coronavirus pandemic as well as Huneeus’s “unique health circumstances”.
He has been released to home confinement.
His “unique health requirements”?! Yeah, another example of rich people getting treated differently in America.
