Hillebrand responds to Covid-19 with daily transport update
In response to the unfolding coronavirus situation, Hillebrand is giving daily online updates of global logistics, including restrictions, at 17:00 CET.
The international logistics business issued a statement today to stress that it has taken measures to both ensure the health and safety of its employees as well as enable complete business continuity for its customers.
Noting that it is “prepared to continue managing your bookings, your transportation, warehousing and customs clearance,” it also said that all its “key partners and service providers are fully operational too.”
“Keeping your supply chain going is our most important priority,” Hillebrand stated on its site.
The implications region by region can be seen by clicking here, and will be updated daily at 17.00 Central European Time.
Looking at the current situation, most regions are operational, although there is some notable disruption in parts of South America, which could affect flows of popular wines such as Chilean Cabernet/Sauvignon Blanc and Argentine Malbec.
Interestingly, Hillebrand notes on its site that 90% of suppliers have resumed work in China, except those in the Wuhan area, while Italy, which is the worst affected country worldwide for Covid-19, appears to only be suffering minor delays and some capacity reduction.
As for the US, where the situation has been worsening, it notes that “major wine storage facilities are open in California” and the situation seems to be “operational” for the most part.
