Singapore based Sommelier Britt Ng won Jackson Family Wines Scholarship

Jackson Family Wines has named Singapore-based Britt Ng as the winner of the winery’s scholarship to attend the Court of Master Sommelier Advanced Sommelier Course in 2020.

Based in Sonoma County, Jackson Family Wines has established an annual scholarship to sponsor candidates from Asia, Europe and the Middle East in support of emerging talent in the wine industry.

James Tookey, vice-president of Jackson Family Wines for Asia, Europe and the Middle East said: “We are dedicated to making the highest quality wines and sharing the quality story with consumers. Sommeliers serve a critical role in promoting and elevating the wine and beverage industry and we are honoured to provide one skilled candidate with a Court of Master Sommeliers scholarship and the opportunity to get one step closer to joining the Master Sommelier ranks.

”Britt Ng, recipient of the scholarship this year, is a talented and accomplished sommelier with an extremely bright future. With the scholarship, we hope we can help him further advance his skills and ultimately realize his career goals.”

Representing Malaysia and Singapore, Ng is currently the head sommelier at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore with over seven years of restaurant experience. Previously, he has worked for chefs Daniel Boulud and Gordon Ramsay. He is also a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers, a Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators USA and a holder of WSET Level 3 Advanced Certification.

He has won multiple awards throughout his career, including Malaysia’s Best Sommelier 2014 and 2019, Asia’s Best Sommelier in French Wines 2016 and 2019.

Aimed to support up-and-coming sommeliers, the scholarship from Jackson Family Wines provides the entry fee to the Advanced Sommelier course; in addition, the scholarship winner receives the equivalent of £300 towards their study.
