LVMH-owned Belmond launches ‘Epicurean Burgundy’ cruise

Luxury hospitality group Belmond, which was bought by LVMH last year, has launched a luxury cruise through Burgundy that includes a visit to Clos Vougeot.

Luxury hospitality group Belmond has launched an Epicurean Burgundy cruise through the revered wine region

Called ‘Epicurean Burgundy’, in addition to winery visits the cruise includes meals at a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, such as the three star Maison Lameloise in Chagny and Restaurant Georges Blanc in Vonnas.

Operating since 1921, Maison Lameloise is run by executive chef Eric Pras, who is known for traditional Burgundian dishes like snail tart, and pickled garlic and nettle coulis.

Holding three Michelin stars since 1982, Georges Blanc has built up a reputation for reinterpreting classics like Bresse chicken and potato pancakes.

Cruising through Burgundy and Beaujolais from St-Jean-de-Losne to Lyon, every day of the trip will include a visit to a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Taking place aboard the Belmond Napoléon, the week-long cruise begins on 9 August. On the last day of the trip, guests will visit Lyon, taking their final meal at Restaurant Paul Bocuse, which was recently demoted from three Michelin stars to two. Among the signature dishes at the venue are black truffle soup.

On the wine front the cruise includes a trip to Clos de Vougeot, where Cistercian monks made wine in the 12thcentury, and a scenic meander through the waterways of Burgundy including down the River Saone.

Belmond Afloat in France offers tailor-made itineraries around Burgundy, Provence, Champagne and the Canal du Midi.

Twice a year, Belmond offers a dedicated Grand Cru journey on board the Belmond Amaryllis, where guests can enjoy wines from the 33 Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy.

The Epicurean Burgundy cruise starts from €7,333 per person on an all-inclusive basis, based on 12 people travelling aboard the boat.

Established with the acquisition of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Belmond operates 46 hotel, rail and river cruise experiences in many of the world’s most celebrated destinations, including the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Last year the company was bought by luxury goods giant LVMH.
