Le Cordon Bleu offers click and collect service
World-renowned cookery school Le Cordon Bleu is to offer a click and collect service at Cord, the 90-cover restaurant at its new London outpost on Fleet Street.
As reported by the Evening Standard, the historic culinary institution that taught the likes of Julia Child, Prue Leith, Charlie Trotter and Yotam Ottolenghi, is keen to modernise and make the most of the lunchtime crowd of nearby office workers.
Specialising in classic French cooking, in April the culinary institution will open a restaurant, café and teaching complex called Cord by Le Cordon Bleu within the former Reuters building on Fleet Street designed by Sir Edward Lutyens.
Diners will be able to review the menu via the Cordon Bleu app, order, and set a time for pick-up. In addition to speedy service, the app will offer loyalty discounts and free croissants.
While Le Cordon Bleu has run a London cookery school since 1931, Cord is its first London restaurant Le Cordon Bleu president, André J Cointreau, described the restaurant as “an evolving culinary art form”.
Considered as the guardian of French culinary techniques, Le Cordon Bleu offers training courses for chefs and managers in the food and hospitality industries.
In addition to diplomas aimed at aspiring professional chefs, the school also offers short courses in culinary techniques, wine tasting and cake decorating.
Le Cordon Bleu runs 35 schools in 20 countries. The first cookery school was found by Marthe Distel and Henri-Paul Pellaprat in Paris in 1895.
