Jack Ma opens his second bar in Shanghai

Jack Ma, former executive chairman of Alibaba, has expanded his bar business with the opening of a second site in Shanghai this month.

Widly recognised as a Chinese business magnate, Ma is an avid wine lover and music enthusiast as well. In January 2019 he combined the two interests and debuted his first bar and music live house, HHB Music House, in Hangzhou. The bar swiftly aroused a sensation in the city.

According to Ma, he wanted to create a hub for people to hang out with good drinks and music. The name HHB has a double meaning of ‘Happy Honey Badger’ and ‘Healthy & Happy Bar’. Previously, he also named the semiconductor company under Alibaba after the honey badger, which is known for its fearless behaviour.

At the beginning of 2020, Ma opened the second branch of HHB in the Jing’an district of Shanghai. The dazzling opening of the bar was spiced up by the participation of Ma’s special friends, who are top singers and social media stars in China. The Shanghai store is also an exclusive offline outlet for the sales of Ma’s Sours Rosé wine, a special label produced by Ma’s Château de Sours.
