Fred Sirieix to leave Galvin at Windows
First Dates frontman Fred Sirieix has announced he is to leave his day job as general manager of the formerly Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows in London’s Mayfair.
As reported by the Evening Standard, the Limoges-born maître d’ announced his departure from the Park Lane restaurant in an Instagram post this weekend.
He wrote: “The time has come to say goodbye to all my friends and colleagues after an incredible 14-year journey at Galvin at Windows”.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me over the years and helped us create amazing experiences and deliver excellence to all our wonderful guests on the 28th floor at London Hilton on Park Lane”.
Sirieix has worked at the high rise restaurant since it opened in 2006, having previously held positions at Pierre Koffman’s La Tante Claire, Michel Roux Jr’s Le Gavroche and Sartoria on Savile Row.
Run by brothers Jeff and Chris Galvin, Galvin at Windows lost it Michelin star in the 2020 Michelin guide to the UK and Ireland.
The charismatic Frenchman made his debut as maitre d’ of the First Dates restaurant in 2013, which is filmed at Paternoster Chop House in St Paul’s.
Sirieix has gone on to front a number of food-themed TV programmes including The Art of Service, My Million Pound Menu and Road Tripwith fellow chefs Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo.
He has yet to reveal his next move, though recently appeared on a wine tasting panel for The Daily Mail alongside wine writer Matthew Jukes, comedian Alexander Armstrong, and Emma Rice of English sparkling wine estate Hattingley Valley.
