Martin Morales seeks saviour for Ceviche

Martin Morales, the Anglo-Peruvian entrepreneur behind popular Peruvian restaurant group Ceviche, is seeking a buyer for his sites after a difficult 18 months.

Martin Morales is seeking a buyer for his Ceviche restaurant group

As reported by Eater London, Morales has been urgently seeking a buyer for his Soho original, Ceviche, and sister site in Old Street to avoid entering administration.

Morales founded Ceviche on Soho’s Frith Street in 2012, which was the first casual dining site of its kind to bring the popular Peruvian fish dish to Londoners.

A former iTunes and Disney music mogul, Morales blamed a rise in business costs and the uncertainty over Brexit for the tough trading conditions he and his team have experienced over the last 18 months.

The Sunday Times reported last week that Morales intents to enter the business into administration, if he doesn’t find a buyer, due to unsurmountable debts.

The Ceviche group has 170 members of staff. Morales’ affiliate brand, Andina, which has four London sites, is not affected, according to Eater.

Meanwhile, celebrity chef Mark Hix is said to be closing Hix Soho flagship site on Brewer Street, having closed his Mayfair site in 2017 and City location last year.
