Innis & Gunn launches £3m funding campaign for Edinburgh brewery
Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn has launched a £3 million crowdfunding campaign to build a new brewery in the Scottish capital, which it claims it will be the city’s largest for over 150 years.
Innis & Gunn has released the first images of its proposed new brewery.
The brewer, which was founded in 2003, has released the first images of its planned brewery, which if funding is secured, will open its doors in 2021.
Called Beer Money, the funding campaign has been launched via crowdfunding platform Seedrs. Innis & Gunn hopes to raise £3 million to fund the project which will bring all its production and packaging in-house and create around 30 new jobs.
It will also mean that Innis & Gunn will be able to offer contract brewing services for the first time.
Dougal Gunn Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn said: “This is the opportunity of a lifetime – to be part of the project to build Edinburgh’s first large-scale brewery in over 150 years. By investing in Innis & Gunn Beer Money, you will be helping to create a new legacy for our brand and for brewing in Edinburgh, and Scotland, that will last a lifetime.”
The location of the new brewery is yet to be announced and it has not been revealed whether planning permission has been granted.
Innis & Gunn sold the equivalent of 21 million pints across 30 countries last year. The brewer’s flagship beer, Original, represents around a quarter of its production and helps to generate a third of its almost £25m turnover.
Plans for the Edinburgh brewery were first announced in November last year. The brewery will have a capacity of 400,000 hectolitres and is part of Innis & Gunn’s plan to push its ongoing growth and aim of achieving a turnover of £40 million by 2021.
