Waitrose lists ‘game-changing’ small gin
UK retailer Waitrose has become the first supermarket to stock Hayman’s ‘game-changing’ gin, a full strength gin that only requires a thimbleful to make a G&T.
Gin producer Haymans brought out the revolutionary small gin in July this year, which boasts such a high botanical content, which allows consumer to cut the booze contents by around 80% per glass, as only 5ml of gin is needed to create a regular gin and tonic.
The drink taps into the lower alcohol trend as each glass of gin and tonic racks up only 0.2 units of alcohol and 30 calories.
Waitrose’s spirit buyer John Vine said the launch came of the back of greater demand for lower alcohol options.
“We’re seeing customer demand for low alcohol options increasing at a fast pace and this new gin’s flavour is absolutely excellent. We know how much people love the taste of gin and tonic so I’m pleased our shoppers will be able to try a lower alcohol version without sacrificing any of the flavour,” he said.
When it was launched, co-owner Miranda Hayman, described it as “the perfect solution”.
“Many consumers are actively looking to reduce their alcohol consumption but are keen to continue enjoying that classic gin flavour they have grown to love,” she said. “The 5ml measuring thimble makes it easy for anyone to mix a perfect Small Gin & Tonic at home.”
The 20cl bottle contains around 40 serves of gin, and retails for £25, and is available online in around 130 Waitrose stores and online.
