New Annabel’s restaurant boasts world’s largest collection of Dom Pérignon

Matteo’s, the new Italian restaurant at London private members’ club Annabel’s, is said to boast the largest collection of Dom Pérignon and Sassicaia in the world.

Matteo’s is the latest lavish restaurant to open within private member’s club Annabel’s in Mayfair

Named after owner Richard Caring’s son, Matteo’s opened earlier this month inside popular private members’ club Annabel’s in London’s affluent Mayfair district.

Located on the second floor of the Berkeley Square club, the fine art filled restaurant’s opulent interiors were designed by Martin Brudnizki, who was also responsible for the club’s recent refurb.

Matteo’s boasts the largest collection of DP in the world

The jewel in its crown is the largest collection of back vintages of Dom Pérignon to be found on any wine list in the world, according to master sommelier Clément Robert, group head sommelier for Caprice Holdings, who spent a year putting the list together.

The collection showcases 60 different expressions of Dom Pérignon spanning five decades, from 1966 to 2008.

Among the back vintages available of the revered Champagne are: P2 1996, P3 1973, Oenothèque 1959, and a Methuselah of P2 Rosé 2000.

“We are thrilled to be working with the best producers in the world for Matteo’s, and will have the most iconic Italian wines available in amazing vintages for our members. In addition to celebrating the hidden gems of the wine world, we will introduce new flavours and experiences,” Robert told db.

Save for Champagne, Matteo’s has an exclusively Italian wine list boasting the world’s biggest collections of back vintages of Super Tuscan Sassicaia and Giacomo Conterno’s Monfortino of Piedmont.

On the food front expect Italian classics like fritto misto, tortelli with wild mushrooms and black truffle, red Sicilian prawns with stracciatella, and veal Milanese.

The launch coincides with the opening of a pair of new bathrooms within the club that have a jungle theme, pink marble sinks and piped in sounds from the jungle.

The lavish loos at Annabel’s have become an Instagram sensation, as they are the only place within the club where photography is permitted.
