Skin contact wine celebrates ‘golden age of porn’

Tank Garage Winery in Calistoga, California, has launched a new skin contact white wine called Skin Flick that supposedly celebrates the “golden age of porn”.

Priced at US$36 a bottle, the wine is a skin-fermented blend of Vermentino (62%), Roussanne (23%), Verdelho (12%), Pinot Gris (2%), and Trousseau Gris (1%) from the Sierra Foothills.

“With Skin Flick, we’re taking it back to a time when pleasure was business and business was booming. Spanning the late-’70s through early-’80s, the golden age of porn was an era of decadent glamour and sexual revolution.

“During this period, polyester-wearing stars like John Holmes and Seka became erotic icons and films like The Opening of Misty Beethoven were box office draws,” goes the spiel on the winery’s website.

“Inspired, we wanted to make a white wine with lusty intentions. As the name suggests, we let the white grapes ferment on their skins to soak up its orange colour and arousing flavours,” it continues.

The racy tasting note describes Skin Flick as “dripping with aromas of orange blossom, banana Laffy Taffy and nutty baking spices”.

“On the palate, hints of orange marmalade, honey and candied lemon peel ride your tongue, with a refreshing climax that will leave you moaning,” it adds.

The label has been crafted to look like a strip of film using colour images taken from a 1970s blue movie called Wet Wash, depicting a soapy car wash encounter that turns into an erotic romp.

Just 650 cases of the provocative wine have been produced.
