Rioja Alta acquires Rioja Santiago
La Rioja Alta SA has obtained the historic Rioja Santiago winery in Haro’s Station District for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1890, La Rioja Alta SA is best known for its Viña Ardanza label.
The acquisition will provide the winery with buildings on the banks of the Tirón covering a total surface area of more than 5,300 square metres.
President of La Rioja Alta, S.A., Guillermo de Aranzabal, said that he was “very happy and excited about this operation”.
He went on to say: “It allows us to continue growing inside our beloved Station District and, in addition, to do it in a strategic location, as it is at the Haro entrance of this iconic district, with thousands of visitors from all over the world passing in front of it every year.”
Plans for the new facilitates are as yet undetermined however Rioja Alta SA has confirmed that they will “complement the wine and wine tourism activities” that are usually carried out in the century-old winery.
Aranzabel said: “What is really important, is our decisive, long-term commitment to the Haro Station District, the cradle of Rioja wine recovering the buildings and spaces of a historic house, founded in Haro in 1870, which was one of the three oldest wineries in Rioja.”
