Isle of Raasay launches Hebridean gin

Isle of Raasay Distillery has released a gin in time for International Scottish Gin Day which takes place this Saturday.

Collaborating with local botanist Stephen Bungard and Heriot-Watt University scholar Fiona Williamson, Isle of Raasay has distilled the gin in a Frilli copper pot using a blend of ten traditional and island-based botanicals.

“Dry and zesty,” the gin has tasting notes including juniper, orange and rhubarb.

Distillery co-founder, Alasdair Day, said: “Raasay’s remarkable geology and our modern island distillery inspired both the creation and presentation of our exciting new Scottish gin that we look forward to sharing with the growing number of visitors to Raasay and gin-lovers alike.”

Released on 27 July, the official launch party will take place at the Isle of Raasay Distillery this Saturday, with gin tours and live music from folk band Trail West.

Bottled at 46% ABV, the gin is priced at RRP £35 per 700ml bottle and is available to purchase from the distillery shop and website.

The company’s first single malt is set to follow in 2020.
