The 10 fastest growing spirits brands in the world

The world’s leading spirits brands’ volume sales grew 11% last year, according to new figures released by the IWSR this week.

New figures, which have been published as part of the IWSR Drinks Market Analysis Global Database, have found that local spirits such as Korean soju, baijiu and Indian whisky are among the fastest-growing products in the world, with brands from India making it into this year’s top 10.

IWSR’s ranking of the top 100 brands is based on their absolute volume growth, which is based on the actual increase of the number of nine-litre cases each label grew between 2017 and 2018.

In some cases these brands may have grown rapidly from a relatively small starting point.

According to the report, Korean soju brand Jinro was named the fastest-growing brand for a second consecutive year, increasing by 6.4% to 80.9m cases in 2018.

Mark Meek, the IWSR’s chief executive, said that although beer and wine consumption fell in 2018, “brands in the spirits category continue to enjoy great consumer loyalty.”
