Champagne Lanson gears up for Wimbledon with new launches

Champagne Lanson is celebrating its 42nd year in partnership with The Championships, Wimbledon with the launch of its Gold Label 2009 and limited-edition, tennis racket-themed neoprene bottle cooler jackets.

The Champagne house as been the official Champagne partner of the tennis championships since 2001, with the fizz exclusively on pour in all bars and hospitality sites inside the venue.

Lanson is also hosting 100 premium, on-premise, Wimbledon-themed activations around the country at key bars, restaurants and hotels. The campaign also includes the producer’s bespoke glassware with the tagline ‘serve with style’.

The Gold Label 2009 will be officially launched at The Championships, Wimbledon on 1 July and carries a recommended retail price of £55.80. The Gold Label is not made every year, with the quality of the harvest determining whether a vintage is declared. The wines are aged for a minimum of five years after the harvest.

Commenting on the partnership, managing director of Champagne Lanson International, Paul Beavis, said: “We are thrilled to have had our 42nd-associated partnership extended for a further five years. As a brand that embodies excellence, innovation and celebrates achievements, we continue to be proud of our unique partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. This will be our 18th-year as exclusive and Official Champagne Suppliers and we are proud of this achievement.”

In the build up to Wimbledon, Lanson bottles will once again be donning a tennis-themed disguise, this time in the form of limited-edition neoprene bottle jackets designed to keep bottles cool for up to two hours. The jackets, which feature miniature tennis rackets, are available in either pink or green.

Beavis continued: “We are absolutely thrilled to be continuing our long-standing – and very happy – relationship with everyone involved with this international tournament. It is very exciting to be able to continue to be a part of the Wimbledon story and we have ambitious plans to build on its success.

“We always love to bring something new to the annual event. Last year we launched our Lanson Green Label Brut Organic Champagne – this year, we are thrilled that our guests will be able to enjoy our quite special Vintage Lanson Gold Label 2009. It will be a prestigious addition to our existing offering at The Championships, Wimbledon.”

“Our annual neoprene bottle jackets complements our traditional Black and Rose Label bottles and we are proud to keep up with the tradition and have a new cooler jacket for collectors to appreciate.”

Lanson’s neoprene bottle jackets will be available on 75cl bottles of fizz sold in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-Op, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado.

Selfridges will be exclusively selling half-bottles available in the jackets, as well as Lanson’s miniature 20cl bottles from 28 June.
