BBR to wind down HK wholesale business
Fine wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd has announced it is winding up its wholesale business in Hong Kong in order to focus entirely on its private customer business.
The wholesale operation will be gradually wound down with a final closure date set for 31 March 2020.
Nick Pegna, Asia Director for BBR, commented: “As a 321-year-old business, Berry Bros. & Rudd has endured through centuries of change. Current market conditions make it a challenging time for everyone in the drinks industry. In order to ensure we are a sustainable business for the future, we are making some changes to the shape of our business so that we can continue to provide an outstanding level of service to our customers and producers.
“After an extensive review of our Hong Kong business we have made the difficult decision to close our Hong Kong wholesale trade operation in order to simplify our business and focus on our Private Customers.
“For our Private Customers, it is business as usual and we look forward to continuing to offer them an exclusive range of wines on the ground for drinking as well as access to our range of Fine Wine Services including advice, BBX, Cellar Plan and fine wine storage in our UK cellars.”
