Nyetimber announces brand ambassadors for 2019
English wine producer Nyetimber has named equestrian stars William Fox-Pitt and Alice Plunkett as brand ambassadors for 2019.
William Fox-PittPlunkett, a former eventer and National Hunt jockey, is now a lead presenter for ITV Racing, having previously hosted equestrian events for Channel 4 Racing, Eurosports, Radio 5 Live and SkySports.
Fox-Pitt, the winner of three Olympic medals, will be competing at the 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials. His appearance marks his twentieth appearance at Badminton since his career began in 1984.
Nyetimber is the official sparkling wine of the Badminton Horse Trials, which will run from 1 to 5 May. The Nyetimber 1968 Routemaster bus will be present, providing English sparkling wine to attendees.
Nyetimber have produced a campaign entitled ‘The Best in Their Field’, an insight into both equestrian sport and winemaking. The film speaks to William Fox-Pitt as well as Nyetimber’s head viticulturalist Ben Kantsler, who is responsible for the care and upkeep of Nyetimber’s nine vineyards across Sussex, Hampshire and Kent.
The Nyetimber brand dates back to 1988, when the first Chardonnay vines were planted at the Nyetimber estate in West Sussex. It was the first producer of English sparkling wine to exclusively grow the three grape varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Their wines are made from 100% estate-grown grapes from vineyards spanning the south of England. Owner and chief executive Eric Heerema works together with head winemaker Cherie Spriggs and winemaker Brad Greatrix to produce their wine.
2018 proved a milestone year for the company. “From the 2018 harvest we will produce more than a million bottles for the first time, and this record amount will help us meet growing international consumer demand, as well as increase our stocks of reserve wine,” head winemaker Cherie Spriggs told the drinks business.
Recently, they announced the re-launch of its demi-sec cuvée with a “new name and new positioning”. Named ‘Cuvee Chérie’, the new cuvée is a follow up to the original demi-sec wine that the estate first released in 2012, but with a new name and packaging.
