New ‘Introduction to Whisky’ online course launched
The course is aimed at beginners and will cover the basics of whisky.
The new online course, The Introduction to Whisky Certificate, hosted by the Edinburgh Whisky Academy, is aimed at beginners and will cover the basics of whisky, as reported by Scotch Whisky.com
The course is fully accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
Kirsty McKerrow, Edinburgh Whisky Academy founder and managing director, said: “Until now, there was no recognised independent qualification delivered online for whisky training. Of great importance is that the knowledge gained is totally impartial and neutral from any distillery or brand.
“The course will be welcomed by whisky industry workers, hospitality staff and spirits retailers and also by whisky enthusiasts keen to expand their knowledge.”
The course takes 10 hours to complete and costs £280, and there is an hour exam at the end which will earn students the SQA certificate.
In spring 2019, the Edinburgh Whisky Academy will launch another course called the Diploma in the Art of Tasting Whisky.
Other SQA courses hosted by the Whisky Academy in the past have included the Diploma in Single Malt Whisky, the Art of Tasting Whisky and Blended Whiskies.
this would be great, we’ve just discovered bourbon (we live where the whiskey rebellion too place) We’ve been to Scotland and enjoy Scotch but need to learn more.
