Momofuku restaurant group to attend Vinexpo New York
Vinexpo New York has announced a preliminary list of importers, distributors, retailers and restaurant chains that will be attending the fair in the Big Apple next March, including Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and the Momofuku restaurant group.
The trade show, which will take place on 4-5 March at the Jacon K. Javits Convention Center, is positioning itself as the “gateway” to the US wine and spirits market.
Among importers slated to be at the event are: Frederick Wildman & Sons, Taub Family Companies, the Winebow Group, Opici Wine Group, Monsieur Touton and Keystone Importers.
Major distributors include Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and Allied Beverages. Retail giant Total Wine, which has 193 stores in 23 states, will also be in attendance.
Other high profile attendees include: Delta Airlines, Hyatt Hotels, Darden restaurants, Fleming’s steakhouses, the Momofuku restaurant group and Starr restaurants.
According to Vinexpo New York, the American wine market is a $36 billion industry that is expected to grow to $45 billion by 2021.
2016 marked the 24th year of growth for US wine sales, according to Vinexpo, with 1-3% annual growth rate in volume and 2-4% in value.
Wine sales in the US reached more than $59 billion in 2016, a 4% increase over 2015. Vinexpo reports that 36% of US adults drink wine, and 38% of US wine consumers drink wine weekly. As of 2016, there were over 550,000 retail outlets in the United States.
