US restaurant Eggslut headed to London
A US restaurant chain that pays homage to the humble egg is coming to the UK, with the provocatively named Eggslut announcing it is to open its first restaurant in London next year.
Eggslut will be opening a London restaurant next year, with more UK locations set to follow
The casual dining concept, whose menu features decadent egg-filled sandwiches, will announce the exact location of its first restaurant in early 2019, with more UK locations set to follow, as reported by the Evening Standard.
The chain was founded in 2011 by Filipino-American chef Alvin Cailan out of a Los Angeles food truck. The first flagship location opened in 2013 inside the Grand Central Market in Los Angeles.
Eggslut currently has five locations in the US across California and in Las Vegas, and one overseas restaurant in Beirut, Lebanon.
It’s specialty is the Slut, which comprises a coddled egg on top of a smooth potato purée, poached in a glass jar, topped with gray salt and chives and served with slices of baguette.
Eggslut also makes a sriracha mayo and cheddar cheese Fairfax sandwich, a wagyu steak-filled Gaucho, and a cheeseburger topped with egg.
It will join a flurry of egg-based restaurants to have opened in London in the past few years, including the Good Egg in Stoke Newington, which then opened a second branch in Soho, the Bad Egg in Moorgate, and Yolk in the City.
