Vinexpo New York announces 2019 masterclasses
Vinexpo New York 2019, which is due to take place on 4-5 March at the city’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, has announced its schedule of masterclasses and events.
Among the highlights are masterclasses on the global production of Grenache, the wines of Serbia and the wines of Austria, in addition to tutored tastings run by French exporter, Confrérie des Domaines and family-owned Cognac producer, Sarl de Bibardies.
Now in the second year of its return to America, Vinexpo New York will also feature its One to Wine Meetings matchmaking service, which sets up meetings in advance between exhibitors and attendees.
The plan is that, through the service, pre-registered attendees can arrive at Vinexpo New York with a personalized schedule of meetings already planned. Staff will be on hand to resolve any scheduling conflicts.
One of the masterclasses will focus on the Garnacha grape
All pre-registered attendees and confirmed exhibitors can register for this complimentary service and will be contacted in January to complete their profiles and begin scheduling appointments.
The Grenache event, sponsored by DOP Cariñena, will feature Pedro Ballesteros Torres, MW, who will conduct a masterclass on Grenache’s varietal characteristics, how it performs in different regions and terroirs around the globe, and how renowned producers worldwide interpret it.
He will also address its resurgence, current market trends and future prospects. Participants will taste a range of Grenache-dominant wines from DOP Cariñena and other influential wine-producing regions worldwide.
The wines of Serbia will be represented by the country’s leading private wine producer, Vinarija Aleksandrovic, which has played an important role in Serbia’s winemaking heritage for over 100 years.
The Austrian Wine Marketing Board will present the top wines of 16 Austrian producers, many of which are new to the US market.
The Confrérie des Domaines, will represent 32 estates from all the key French production regions. Meanwhile, Sarl de Bibardies will bring its full range of single cru Grand Champagne Cognacs to the show.
Another new feature will be WOW! World of Organic Wines, an exhibit and tasting area devoted to organic and biodynamic wines and spirits from around the world.
Attendees who register at www.vinexponewyork.com by 30 November will receive early bird pricing of US$100.
“As last year’s exhibit showed, the demand to break into the US market is greater than ever before,” said Christophe Navarre, president of the Vinexpo Supervisory Board, in a released statement.
“With a list of exhibitors that is constantly expanding, Vinexpo New York will once again be the single best opportunity for American importers, distributors, sommeliers and other trade professionals to meet hundreds of international producers in one location.”
Jointly organised with Diversified Communications, Vinexpo New York is open exclusively to trade professionals and features two days of business meetings, educational conferences, masterclasses, tastings and networking events.
