The Crazy Bear Clubhouse launches first Lanson Lounge

To mark its 25th anniversary, The Crazy Bear Group is launching the world’s first dedicated Champagne Lanson Lounge at its Crazy Bear Clubhouse, featuring the producer’s entire prestige range including a magnum of the 1988 vintage for £1,119.95.

The Crazy Bear Group has opened a private members Clubhouse in the heart of Covent Garden, complete with a new Lanson Lounge. It is currently the first venue in the world to serve the Champagne house’s entire prestige range, including its Extra Age portfolio, Gold, Rosé and Ivory Labels, Noble Cuvée range; and single vineyard cuvée Clos Lanson.

The suitably exuberant Lanson Lounge has been kitted out in the red shade of Lanson’s logo – the Maltese cross, with plush Chesterfield-leather walls studded with over 9,000 Swarovski crystals, velvet chairs and leather floors, and it is adorned with bottles of Champagne. With a capacity for 50 people, the Lanson Lounge is open on Tuesday and Wednesday from midday until midnight, and until 1am from Thursday to Saturday.

Of particular note is that The Crazy Bear Clubhouse is making Champagne Lanson’s Extra Age range available by the glass, giving guests the chance to sample the Blanc de Blancs, Brut and Rosé expressions. The Extra Age range, developed in 2010, is a series of multi-vintage blends, with grapes sourced from the producer’s Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. The Champagnes then benefit from an extended period of lees ageing (at least five years) in Lanson’s cellars to develop extra complexity. Prices range from £16.95 for a glass of Lanson Extra Age Brut to £19.95 for Extra Age Blanc de Blancs and Rosé.

The rest of the Champagne Lanson range is exclusively available at The Crazy Bear Clubhouse by the 75cl bottle, magnum and Methuselah. Crazy Bear members and guests can work their way through the portfolio, from the Rosé Label, off-dry and zesty White Label and fruity demi-sec Ivory Label to the Gold Label 2008, made from Lanson’s Grand Cru vineyards. There is also Clos Lanson, produced from a walled one-hectare plot in Reims; the Extra Age range; the Chardonnay-dominant Lanson Noble Cuvée, and the Lanson Vintage Collection. Comprising an assortment of limited-release vintage wines dating back to 1976, the Lanson Vintage Collection will set the bar high at The Crazy Bear Clubhouse. Among the vintages available are 1988, yours for £599.95 a bottle or £1,119.95 for a magnum, 1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.

Commenting on the launch, Jason Hunt, founder of The Crazy Bear Group, said: “Our customers have been enjoying Champagne Lanson at The Crazy Bear since we opened our first venue in Oxfordshire in 1993, so it seemed only right for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary with the world’s first dedicated Lanson Lounge at our newly opened Crazy Bear Clubhouse in the heart of Covent Garden.

“The Lanson Lounge is the only venue in the world to offer Champagne Lanson’s entire prestige range. We look forward to continuing our special relationship with Lanson until – and beyond – our next milestone.”
