ProWein to mark 25th exhibition in Düsseldorf next year
ProWein will host its 25th event in Düsseldorf in March – ProWein 2019 – International Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits – with around 6,800 exhibitors expected to fill 10 cavernous exhibitions halls over three days.
ProWein will mark its 25th edition in Düsseldorf in 2019
Providing a platform for international wine and spirits trends, more than 60,000 wine professionals will attend the show, with all major wine growing regions represented, as well as 400 spirits exhibitors.
A large tasting zone presenting the winning wines from the spring edition of MUNDUS VINI will be on free pour, while the Champagne Lounge will also return, presenting the wine of 40 Champagne houses, in addition to around 150 brands in ProWein’s wider Champagne area.
A section dedicated to showcasing craft spirits, in the “same but different” hall, will also return. After a successful debut last year, the “same but different” show will focus on craft beer, craft spirits and ciders, with over 100 exhibitors from around 20 countries set to attend.
The Fizzz Lounge meanwhile, which focuses on cocktails and aperitifs, will place a special emphasis on the issue of zero waste, looking at ways to reduce waste of raw materials and optimise the goods cycle at the bar.
The three-day show will be supported by a comprehensive programme of masterclasses and seminars as part of the ProWein Forum.
Specifically, ProWein’s trend scouts Stuart Pigott and Paula Sidore, will give an overview of current wine trends via moderated tastings on Sunday and Monday evening of ProWein 2019 (from 6 pm to 7 pm in the ProWein Forum in Hall 10).
A special focus will be placed on wines from high altitude regions, the comeback of field Blends or Gemischter Satz, and the grape varieties “Chenin Blanc & Gamay”, as well as the growing importance of canned wines.
To mark the 25th anniversary of ProWein, several smaller campaigns are planned, including “Coming home for ProWein”, which will include the production of a limited special edition of Düsseldorf’s traditional liqueur “Killepitsch”, as well as a range of branded merchandise, while exhibitors and visitors will receive small goodies throughout the event.
Because the French wine industry has played a significant role in the development of ProWein 25 years ago, France will play a special role at ProWein 2019. In partnership with Business France, ProWein will produce booklet that introduces all French growing areas, which will be distributed in the run up to the event.
The next ProWein is scheduled to take place from 17 to 19 March 2019, in Düsseldorf, Germany. ProWine Asia, is due to be held in Singapore on 24 to 27 April 2019.
