Conetech to present 100% de-alcoholising wine tech at WBWE
ConeTech, a technology firm at the forefront of de-alcoholisation technology, will present its latest innovation at the World Bulk Wine Exhibition (WBWE) next week, which takes its spinning cone column technology to the next level.
ConteTech’s GoLo technology is capable of removing up to 100% alcohol from a product, without harming its aroma or flavours.
Over the past 27 years ConeTech, part of the Advanced Beverage Technologies companies, has worked toward creating technology capable of de-alcoholising beverages, while preserving their aroma and flavour profile.
Its technology uses an advanced method of very low temperature distillation (VLDT) that allows for selective capture of aroma/flavour compounds, and removal of alcohol as necessary, from any liquid.
Initially, this technology was embodied in ConeTech’s spinning cone column, which has been used to reduce the abv of a beverage to around 8-11%.
Now, the company has refined its technology further to allow it to reduce alcohol content to just 0.02%, without taking away aromas and flavours, claims ConeTech, tapping into the growing trend for low and no alcohol products.
“With the global trends showing continued reduction in consumer interest in alcoholic products, more and more reports of the harmful aspects of alcohol consumption, and the increasing interest in consumers of all ages to lead healthier lifestyles, alcohol management and the ability to create high quality low and no alcohol products is a growing need in the wine industry,” said ConeTech.
Its GoLo technology was developed to deliver technology equal in quality to the spinning cone column, but in a more “effective, efficient and affordable” way, and was developed by ConeTech with their partner LogiChem in South Africa.
Explaining the new technology, ConeTech said: “GoLo integrates three otherwise batch operations necessary with the spinning cone column, into a continuous and easy to use single process, while offering a thin film creation system (a packed ) which functions with great reliability, at a greatly reduced capital cost.”
Three standard capacities are available, including 2.2 hl/h, 5 hl/h and 22 hl/h, with a mobile version also available.
ConeTech’s focus at WBWE in Amsterdam will be high quality low alcohol products (8-11% abv) wines and no-alcohol (0-0.5%abv) wines, with several products that will soon be available in retail markets in North America, Sweden, Germany, France, UK and South Africa set to be showcased.
ConeTech’s WBWE team will include: Debbie Novograd, CEO; Gaspar Roby, vice president of operations; Werner Engelbrecht, managing director ConeTech South Africa; Francisco Rivero Granados, technical and quality director ConeTech Iberica.
The WBWE will take place at the Amsterdam RAI on 26 and 27 of November.
