Castelnau launches limited edition mags
Hoping to capitalise on the growing thirst for magnums in the UK, Champagne Castelnau has launched a number limited edition magnums from its Oenothèque Collection in time for Christmas.
The limited release oenothèque magnums, from the 1995, 1996 and 1998 vintages, boast teardrop-shaped contemporary labels with a minimal aesthetic.
The magnums form part of Castelnau’s wine library of “exceptional” vintages, which is home to over 50 years of back vintages.
The house’s vintage releases are left on their lees for a minimum of 12 years in order to create the “generous, yet fresh and balanced signature style of the house”, according to chef de cave Elisabeth Sarcelet.
“Magnums are the ideal format for enjoying these vintage Champagnes, which are now over 20 years old. We are delighted to have been allocated a limited number for sale in the UK as the festive season gets under way,” said Fernando Guimarey, on-trade sales manager at Castelnau Wine Agencies.
“They are the ideal option for larger parties, and many restaurants offer Champagne by the glass from magnum, giving people the chance to taste it at its best whilst also adding theatre to the experience,” he added.
Located in the heart of Reims, Castelnau’s grape growers own almost 900 hectares of vineyards across so 141 different crus in Champagne.
