Online wine club based on expert recs launches
Nosy Wine Club, an online subscription service that sends wines to its members based on expert recommendations, has launched in the UK.
The Nosy Wine Club is the brainchild of Porto-based Marta Maia, who wanted to offer UK consumers something more than the often-uninspiring wine selection found in supermarkets.
Keen to “bring back the fun of discovering new wines”, the Nosy Wine Club focuses on “interesting, delicious and affordable” wines recommended by experts from all over the world who have no agenda of trying to shift old stock.
Sarah Heller is Nosy’s November wine expert
Each month a different wine expert will recommend three wines to be sent to club members that they would personally serve at their own dinner parties.
The wines are delivered to subscribers with tasting notes and food pairing recommendations.
The service, which is now open for orders with the first shipment due to go out on 20 November, costs £55 a month and members can decide whether to have monthly deliveries, or deliveries every two or three months. The cost of postage is included within the monthly fee.
November’s wine expert is Sarah Heller MW, one of the youngest students ever to become a Master of Wine.
“After exhausting local supermarkets and wine merchants, I wanted to know how to discover the best wines and wondered what wine experts would serve at their own dinner parties.
“A friend introduced me to wine expert Richard Mayson, who suggested three wines for me to try, and I realised that many people would appreciate the same advice, which is how Nosy started,” said founder Marta Maia.
“Nosy’s concept of matching people who want to drink more interesting wine but have limited time to research it with wine experts who are excited to share their knowledge is fantastic.
“I’m an Italian wine specialist and am thrilled to share my experience with Italy’s many hidden gems with Nosy’s members,” added Heller.
Hoping to stand out from other online wine clubs, Nosy’s packaging is bright and contemporary. Wines are shipped on the 20th of each month and orders can be taken ahead of the official shipment date.
I would advise against subscribing to Nosy wine. They have taken 5 monthly payments and so far delivered two boxes. I am unable to log in to my account to unsubscribe, they do not answer communications. Check out their reviews on their Facebook page.
