New exhibitors announced for The Wine & Spirits Show
The Wine and Spirits Show, run by the drinks business and sister title The Spirits Business, has announced further exhibitors for its event in October, including Rhône with a new brut nature sparkling and the new delle Venezie DOC which is shaking things up for Pinot Grigio in northeastern Italy.
Launched by the team that brought you The City Wine Show, the Wine Show Chelsea and Spirited London, The Wine & Spirits Show will bring together the best wine and spirits under one roof.
The event will be open to both the trade and consumers and will take place over two days from 12 to 13 October in the heart of London at One Whitehall Place, part of five-star hotel the Royal Horseguards. Targeting wine enthusiasts based in London, around 2,000 members of the general public are expected to attend, alongside members of the wine and spirits trade.
The Wine & Spirits Show will offer one hall dedicated to wines, and another that will be focused entirely on spirits.
The Wine Hall will also feature the Global Masters Zone, showcasing the top medal-winning wines judged throughout the years in the drinks business Global Masters Series.
The Spirits Hall will feature everything from gin and whisky to Tequila, rum and Mezcal. This hall will also host The Spirits Masters Zone, which will be manned by The Spirits Business team and showcase the Spirits Masters competition medallists.
Both halls will feature a dedicated New Products Zone for both wines and spirits, which will showcase the hottest wines and spirits launched within the last 12 months, keeping guests up to speed on emerging trends and releases. Consumers will be asked to vote for their favourite new wine or spirits, with the winning brand set to receive a profile page in the magazine.
A Global Beer Tour zone will also offer guests the chance to sample a wide range of brews judged by db‘s expert panel as part of the Global Beer Competition in August.
As well as hundreds on wines and spirits available to sample, the event will also offer a series of expert masterclasses, on both wines and spirits, giving guests the chance to get under the skin of Champagne with Pol Roger or delve deeper into the world of fine wine with iDealwine.
A full schedule of masterclasses, which will be offered FREE on a first come first served basis, will be announced in due course.
The event will open from 1pm to 9pm on Friday, and from 1pm to 8pm on Saturday. To register for the trade event, which will run from 1pm to 5pm on Friday, please click here.

Domaine Vintur
Company background: We bought a vineyard and winery in the Rhône Valley, Southern France to fulfil a passion for wine and to make it an area we love.
Proudest achievement: Winning our Appellation’s Trophy for the best white wine of 2012 in our first year of total controlled production, with Robert Parker saying: “This is a Domaine to keep an eye on”.
Fun fact: We are mad Brits making wine in France near Mt Ventoux, one of cycling’s toughest climbs. Our flagship wine, Le Gentleman, has a bicycle logo to celebrate British victories in the Tour de France.
Future goals: To have a greater awareness of our wines in the marketplace and the potential of high quality domaine wines from the Ventoux with the ability to age, develop and be accessible to all.
Ask them about: Their new sparkling Effervescence Brut Nature – a Wine & Spirits Show exclusive.
East London Wine School
Company background: Founded in 2010, East London Wine School is part of the Local Wine School franchise.
Future goal: Offering double the number of WSET courses through the East of London school, helping people understand wine and spirits.
Ask them about: How the Local Wine School franchise coaches more students to exam merits and distinctions than any other approved WSET course provider.
Woza Biltong & Charcuterie
Company background: Woza was founded in 2017 after its founder, a biltong loving South African living in London, left his job at an Investment Bank to show Londoners what good biltong is all about!
Fun Fact: Woza actually began as a South African pop-up restaurant concept but shifted focus to biltong as it was always the most popular dish on the menu with customers.
Proudest achievement: We are pretty proud that our Original Beef, Cape Cinnamon and Wild Venison biltongs have all won Great Taste Awards, plus the latter was runner-up best charcuterie at the Great British Food Awards 2017. Additionally, we are proud to have such a high quality base of regular clients and event partners, like the Wine & Spirits show, that appreciate our product and support Woza.
Future goals: We are still a young business, just over 1 years old, and hope that by this time next year we have been able to grow but still keep our quality and standards as high as they are today.
Ask them about: Their new Peri Peri biltong, which is seasoned with African Birds’s Eye Chilli, smoked paprika and other spices.
Italian Signature Wines Academy
Company background: ISWA was founded in November 2014 by five Italian wine producers Allegrini (Valpolicella-Veneto) Feudi di San Gregorio (Campania); Fontanafredda (Piedmont); Frescobaldi (Tuscany) and Planeta (Sicily). The founding members quickly formed an influential and strategic coalition active in both the domestic and foreign markets. In the four years since its foundation, they have been joined by Arnaldo Caprai of Umbria, Villa Sandi located in the most prestigious production area of Prosecco in Veneto and Masciarelli in Abruzzo.
Fun Fact: The ISWA budget is mostly destined to promotional activities on foreign markets. When we leave all together, from eight such important wineries (export managers, PRs, senior members and the same producers) to go to an important event or fair, there are so many of us that we really look like a championship football team eager to win every match played on the world field.
Proudest achievement: In just a few years, ISWA has achieved commercial results in areas such as travel retail, acquiring important contractual weight as players in this sector. We are equally satisfied to obtain the attention of important global wine and spirits monopolies. But what we are really proud of, is that Italian Signature Wines Academy is not only a strategic vehicle for premium Italian wines, but also a driving force for the promotion, training and culture of “made in Italy” and for the enhancement of the enormous value of Italian goods, in a similar way to the world of fashion or design.
Finally, as our name suggests, the group has also an educational function, helping to promote Italian wine culture through special partnerships with the most important Italian universities. We have finalised an agreement with Vita-Salute San Raffaele University as one of the main supporters of its postgraduate degree in “food and wine philosophy”.
Future goals: We’re working on new projects aimed at transforming us more and more into a true point of reference all over the world in terms of high-level Italian wines. We are also carefully studying the possibilities offered by certain emerging African markets, and in a year, we would like to see the first steps taken to cross successfully into these new frontiers for Italian wine export
Ask them about: The six wines that they’ll be exhibiting from producers including Villa Sandi, Frescobaldi, Allegrini, Fontanafredda, Masciarelli and Planeta.
Sud de France Languedoc-Roussillon/Sud Ouest Top 100
Company background: The competition first began in 2012. Now in its sixth year, it helps both the wine trade and consumers alike choose among some of the best wines that this impressive French wine region has to offer. 634 wines from some 210 producers were narrowed down to just 100 during a rigorous blind tasting by a panel of leading industry experts, chaired by Tim Atkin MW.
Ask them about: The 14 coup de coeur wines which were considered the stand-out examples that the expert panel felt best expressed the characteristics of a certain theme, including a trophy for the best white, red, rosé.
delle Venezie DOC
Company background: The new delle Venezie DOC was created in 2017 as a result of the history and the culture of generations who have built day by day the great “Triveneto vineyard”. It came from the need for producers and consumers to manage, protect and promote the complex and versatile production of Pinot Grigio, one of the most representative grape of the area and the most exported nationally. The Pinot Grigio production system is today based on a young, modern, environmentally friendly vinegrowing system that looks towards quality productions, recognised and able to ensure that these wines really represent those expressed values to the final consumer. Since its first harvest in 2017, the entire Pinot Grigio production from the administrative territories of Trentino, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia is today certificated as DOC.
Proudest achievement: In the first half of 2018, delle Venezie DOC has been exceeded one million hl of certified wine (1,003,615 hl), 73% of the harvested 2017 production, more than 130 million bottles of Pinot Grigio, DOC claimed and required by foreign markets, confirming a trend able to expect the zero stock before the end of the current campaign (December 2018). And, this positive trend has been accompanied by the definitive ceasing of the bottling of the old IGT starting from August 1st 2018, an historical and important event that closes a phase regarding the entire Italian Northeastern Pinot Grigio which will therefore leave the cellars only guaranteed as DOC. Plus, consumers all over the world have welcomed the new Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC with a great interest. International press and professional opinion leaders have recognised the excellence of the Italian style of delle Venezie DOC wines, winners of important awards in the main world’s competitions dedicated to global Pinot Grigio productions. 2017 first vintage is now almost bottled and delivered to consumers, and trade operators are anxiously waiting for the incoming 2018 vintage, which promises to be a great quality one.
Fun fact: Delle Venezie DOC appellation, representing more than 24,000 hectares of Pinot Grigio, is the first supra-regional experiment ever in Italy able to systematise two regions (Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto) and one autonomous province. A great challenge that, since its very harvest in 2017, has already brought results and achievements.
Future goals: The delle Venezie DOC Consortium is now working in the direction of receiving the official recognition from the Italian Ministry of Agriculture that will help to coordinate system policies for the total governance of the appellation, on promotion, international, collective mark and identity protection.
Ask them about: The 70 different delle Venezie members’ labels on pour for the first time at the Wine & Spirits Show.
