Hong Kong whisky den Angel’s Share to close
Angel’s Share, the first whisky bar opened by Tasting Group in Hong Kong, has announced its closure next month after eight years of business in the city where competition among bars has become stiff.

The bar announced the closure on its Facebook page, saying “after eight years dedicated to pushing forward the art of whisky appreciation, we have to say goodbye to genuine whisky connoisseurs, like you.”
Opened in 2010, the whisky den nestled on Hollywood Road in Central, was among one of the first bars in the city dedicated to whisky appreciation for connoisseurs.
Boasting more than 130 different malt whiskies, the bar championed Asian whiskies as well. At one point, it imported a barrel of Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask whisky from Taiwan.
Tasting Group, which also owns award-winning bars such as Quinary (40th on last year’s World’s 50 Best Bar list), Ori-gin, The Envoy, VEA Restaurant and Lounge, has just recently opened another bar outpost inside The Pottinger hotel called Room 309.
The summer saw a few new openings of bars including The Wise King by two veterans – Sandeep Kumar and Joe Villanueva – and in the coming months, new bars inside Rosewood Hotel and Mariott Hotel are also set to open.
Leading up to the closure, the bar will offer generous Happy Hour specials and movie screenings of namesake film The Angel’s Share among other events.
