Fentimans partners with cake shop and GBBO winner to open gin bakery
Tonic water producer Fentimans has teamed up with Notting Hill cake shop Pearl and Groove and Great British Bake Off 2017 champion Sophie Faldo to open the UK’s “first” pop-up gin bakery in London.
Gluten-free cake maker Pearl and Groove, on London’s Portobello road, will play host to Fentiman’s pop gin bakery this weekend, starting from today (21 September) until Sunday (23 September).
Great British Bake Off 2017 champion, Sophie Faldo, opened the brewery this morning.
Fentimans have also published range of recipes for an assortment of gin and tonic themed-cakes, including gin and pink grapefruit tonic cheesecake, gin and Valencian orange tonic water chocolate tart, gin and rose lemonade ombre cake, gin and elderflower cupcakes, gin and botanical tonic water bundt cake and gin and rose lemonade drizzle cake.
The sweet treats will be available for £4.50 each or £23 for a box of six, accompanied by a Fentimans G&T, made with the same gin in the cake of choice.
Sarah Brownrigg, Fentimans marketing manager, said: “Our consumers’ love of baking has inspired us to find a way to bring together two of the nation’s favourite things – gin and baking, and what better time to launch the pop-up than during a month that sees Great British Bake Off return to our screens.
“We’re really excited to be working alongside 2017 GBBO winner Sophie Faldo and Pearl and Groove artisan cake makers on the pop-up and can’t wait to showcase our range of flavoured tonics in the G&T cakes”.
The pop-up bakery will be open until 6pm today, from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
