Bride rents out wedding dress that holds 50 glasses of Prosecco
A woman who commissioned a custom-made wedding dress with a metal frame that holds 50 glasses of Prosecco has decided to rent it out to would-be brides so that it doesn’t “go to waste”.
As reported by Deadline News, Kelly McMillan from Pilton, Edinburgh decided to take her love for the Italian sparkler to new level, commissioning a bespoke metal frame to fit around her dress for her wedding reception. The dress is believed to be inspired by the one pictured above.
Created by local blacksmith David Wright of Powderhall Bronze, the frame consists of four rows of wine glass holders with the apparatus able to accommodate a total of 50 glasses.
Posting on Edinburgh-based buy and sell Facebook group EGG-Sells, McMillan has put the steel frame up for rent for £100 with a delivery service thrown in.
The frame weighs in at 30kg and has been spray-painted white. It has an opening at the back to allow the bride to step into it.
Speaking to Deadline News, McMillan said: “I own a hair salon in Newhaven, and one of my customers saw a similar dress online and said ‘that is absolutely perfect for you’ and I agreed.
“I went to David, who is a blacksmith, and asked him if he could make one – and he said ‘I don’t know’. Then, he brought it along on the day as a wedding present.
“It was fantastic, it’s much more personal than just sticking a table full of prosecco and letting guests grab one.
“I hope other brides will be able to enjoy it themselves too, I don’t want it to go to waste”.
Sadly making a nice wedding dress look chavy
