Wine label owner and US golfer partners with Loch Lomond Whiskies
American golf star Cristie Kerr, owner of Cristie Kerr Wines, has agreed a new partnership with Loch Lomond Whiskies, making her the group’s first ambassador in women’s golf.
Kerr now joins fellow professional golfers Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie as brand ambassadors. Loch Lomond Whiskies, is the official spirit of The Open, Women’s British Open and Ladies Scottish Open.
Having founded Curvature Wines in 2006 in partnership with Suzanne Pride Bryant, co-owner of Pride Mountain Vineyard, Kerr later launched Kerr Cellars, both labels sitting with the Cristie Kerr Wines portfolio.
Kerr is also studying to be a sommelier, currently holding the Level 1 Court of Master Sommeliers certificate. Her partnership with Loch Lomond Whiskies marks her first move into spirits.
Commenting on the partnership, Kerr said: “People know about my involvement in wine, but it may come as a surprise that I’m also incredibly passionate about single malt whiskies.
“Having travelled to Scotland on a number of occasions I know that the whiskies on offer – just like the golf – are amongst the finest in the world.
“Loch Lomond Whiskies is an organisation which already has credibility in the women’s game and the dedication, passion and expertise that goes into making each whisky is something I can appreciate and identify with.
“I’m incredibly excited about the partnership and am looking forward to spreading the word of Loch Lomond Whiskies around the world.”
For the Women’s British Open, which starts today at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, Kerr has worked with the whisky producer to formulate a signature cocktail to be served to spectators at the Loch Lomond Bar at the course.
Kerr turned professional in 1996 and during her career has 20 wins on the LPGA Tour including two majors, the first in 2007 at the US Women’s Open and the second in 2010 at the Women’s PGA Championship.
Colin Matthews, CEO of Loch Lomond Group, added: “We are very proud to be associated with Cristie as our first ambassador in women’s golf.
“We hope that this association will demonstrate both our enthusiasm for the future of the women’s game as well as our ambition to introduce our diverse award-winning scotch whisky brands to many new consumers to enjoy”.
