dbHK launches ‘World Whisky Masters 2018 – Asia’

The drinks business Hong Kong is launching the inaugural ‘World Whisky Masters – Asia’ this year, in an effort to recognise the diverse range and quality of whiskies produced outside of  Scotland in countries such as Japan, India, Canada and the US.

The competition will be chaired by the drinks business Hong Kong and a panel of leading spirits specialists and Hong Kong’s main trade buyers.

The whiskies will be judged in a blind tasting by 10-12 judges to find and reward the finest global whisky brands in the Asian market.

The samples will be assessed by categories such as single malt, blended, single grain, age and design & packaging.

Silver, Gold and Master medals will be awarded in each category. The Gold and Master winners will then be judged for the overall title of ‘Grand Asian World Whisky Master 2018’.

There are no limits to the number of medals we can award – with medals going to the winning spirits based on quality rather than quantity.

In addition, the best performing spirits will go forth to compete for the title of ‘World Whisky Taste Master-Asia’.

The results will be published in the drinks business Hong Kong print edition, online on The Spirits Business website as well as on all of our social media platforms and in a newsletter in both English and Chinese.

The official deadline for entry is 1st August 2018, and each entry should be submitted with two samples. For more details, please contact john.duffy@thedrinksbusiness.com.
