Petainer to launch its keg portfolio at SEA Brew
UK-based plastic container producer, Petainer, will unveil its new keg portfolio for breweries at this year’s South East Asia (SEA) Brew from 20-22 June in Manila, the region’s only annual conference and trade fair for the brewing community.
Indonesia’s first brewery Lovina Beach Brewery is among the breweries that have started using Petainer’s keg portfolio
The new portfolio comprises petainerKeg Classic, petainerKeg with USD top and sleeve, and the brand new petainerKeg Hybrid, which offers “universal filling, excellent handling, safety and sustainability benefits”, according to the company.
The kegs are said to be able to help breweries lower the total cost of ownership than other packaging formats such as steel and glass, because they can be filled, sent and recycled when empty, cutting out costly return logistics and washing processes.
They are also compatible with standard Micro Matic dispense systems – A, D, G and S – so customers know their product can be dispensed anywhere in the world, said the company.
Three of South East Asia’s fastest growing craft breweries have turned to Petainer and have chosen petainerKeg to help them tackle the complex logistics in the region and make exporting to key markets such as Singapore profitable.
Kingdom Breweries in Phnom Penh, Cambodia is planning to use the range of petainerKeg products for different markets: the petainerKeg Classic for the local market and the petainerKeg USD and Petainer’s new Hybrid keg for export markets.
Based in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam,Rooster Beers chose lower-cost Petainer’s USD keg, a one-way PET keg. The keg removes any return logistics and is compatible with universal fittings which means it can be used in bars and restaurants anywhere in the world. When the keg is empty, it can be dissembled, crushed and put into the local recycling system, according to Petainer.
Lovina Beach Brewery, the first craft beer brewery in Indonesia, has also adopted the system.
Chris McEwan, group business development director of Petainer, said: “We are delighted to support three exciting new customers which really demonstrate why one-way PET kegs are becoming an important part of breweries’ growth stories. However, it’s not just about products – our ability to provide the best quality technical support is also an important part of the decision-making process.”
