Two more exhibitors confirmed for The City Wine Show

E&J Gallo and Wimbledon Wine Cellar are the latest exhibitors to confirm their attendance at this year’s City Wine Show, taking place on 13 and 14 April in London.

Californian winery and distributor E&J Gallo will be showcasing wines from two prestigious labels.

The first, Louis M. Martini, is one of only five Napa Valley producers to set up at the end of Prohibition. Since 1933, it has specialised in Cabernet Sauvignon and has access to some of the best vineyards in the area, including Monte Rosso and Stagecoach. Among the wines on show will be the Louis M Martini Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, which retails for £30, and the Sonoma County Cabernet 2014, priced at £17.

Also on show will be Murray Estate Vineyards Pinot Gris 2015 from the Russian River Valley priced at £20 and MacMurray Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir 2015, also from the Russian River Valley, priced at £25.

E&J Gallo will also be exhibiting the wines from boutique California label Orin Swift, founded by winemaker Dave Phinney. After travelling around Europe and being inspired by the wine lifestyle, Phinney returned home with a new focus and ambition. At Orin Swift, he gives fruit flavours priority, using no oak and no long maturation. Wines are concentrated, fruit-driven and terroir-focused. Among the five expressions on show will be Mannequin Chardonnay, priced at £40, and Machete Petite Sirah, priced at £60.

Joining E&J Gallo will be merchant Wimbledon Wine Cellar, founded by 1986 by Andrew Pavli. Located on Gladstone Road and still run by Pavli, the shop offers retail clients “the best selection of fine wine in London,” while it also imports wines from a number of exclusive growers in Burgundy, Piemonte, Tuscany, Greece and elsewhere, which are sold to high-end independent wine merchants and top London restaurants.

Wimbledon Wine Cellar was founded in 1986 by Andrew Pavli, still the present owner today and on the scene most days in our Gladstone Road shop. While we continue to offer our retail clients the best selection of fine wine in London, we also import wines from a number of exclusive growers in Burgundy, Piemonte, Tuscany, Greece and elsewhere and sell these to other high quality independent wine merchants and into top London restaurants.

The eight wines that Wimbledon will be exhibiting include Vassaltis Assyrtiko 2017, priced at £28, La Tour Melas Cyrus One 2016, priced at £22 and Bizios Nemea 2011 Agiorigitiko, priced at £25.

What’s happening at this year’s City Wine Show?

Like last year, there will be a selection of Prestige Masterclasses featuring the likes of Pol Roger, E&J Gallo and iDealwine, and hosted by editor-in-chief of the drinks business, Patrick Schmitt MW.

As well as exhibitor stands, guests can sample the latest releases in our New Product Zone and taste hundreds of award-winning wines in the Discovery Zone.

Official cheese providers to the Queen, Paxton and Whitfield, will once again be offering the ideal accompaniment to all the wine, while guests will be rewarded with a free G&T from the Gin and Tonic Bar upon entry.

This year the official charity of the show is the brilliant Walkabout Foundation, which provides wheelchairs to disadvantaged communities in developing countries.

More exhibitors will be confirmed in the run up to the show, with Champagne house Piper Heidsieck, online wine auctioneer iDealwine and Argentine winery Viñalba already announced.
