New winemaker joins Masseto team
Super Tuscan Masseto has named Eleonora Marconi as its new winemaker.
Marconi joins from Castello di Nipozzano where she has been head winemaker for a number of years. In her new role at Masseto she will report directly to estate director Axel Heinz.
Half Italian, half Australian (on her mother’s side), Marconi studied oenology at the University of Marche and spent time working on estates in South Australia and France before joining the team at Castello di Nipozzano in 2012.
Masseto said in a statement that: “Eleonora has a meticulous and thorough approach to winemaking and a true appreciation and respect for terroir.”
Marconi joins the Italian label at an exciting time, Masseto’s owners the Frescobaldi family having recently announced it is currently building its first dedicated winery for the label since its creation some 30 years ago.
